Ecuadorian Doctors Travel To Switzerland To Experience The Highest Standards In Child Nutrition Production And Safety

An experience that connected science, innovation, and medical knowledge

At Pharmalys Laboratories, we believe that continuous medical education and scientific exchange are essential to strengthening infant nutrition in Ecuador. That is why we invited a group of Ecuadorian doctors to visit the HOCHDORF plant, one of the most advanced facilities for the production of infant formulas and specialized nutritional solutions. 

This experience allowed us to demonstrate, from the source, how products are developed under strict international standards of quality, safety, and traceability. More than simply visiting a production plant, the goal was to create a learning experience that connected medical practice with the innovation and scientific precision behind every infant formula. 

During the visit, doctors had the opportunity to explore the technological systems, automated processes, and protocols implemented to ensure nutritional safety from the earliest stages of life. The experience was marked by scientific interest, curiosity, and a shared commitment to continuing to support children’s well-being. 

Technology, precision, and world-class standards

During the tour, we observed the remarkable level of precision with which the plant operates, designed to minimize human error through highly automated processes and real-time digital monitoring systems. 

The facility processes up to 1.5 million kilograms of fresh milk and whey every day, operating under strict quality and traceability standards that ensure consistency throughout every stage of production. 

One of the most impactful insights was understanding that infant nutrition safety depends not only on the final formula itself, but on the entire control system built behind the product  from raw material selection to the release of the finished batch. 

The science behind every formula

Throughout the visit, we learned about the high level of monitoring and surveillance implemented within the facility, where more than 220,000 laboratory analyses and over 120,000 in-process controls are carried out each year, including microbiological monitoring, physicochemical analyses, and continuous batch verification. 

Each production batch may undergo between 5 and 200 individual analyses before release, ensuring nutritional stability, safety, and full traceability in every product. 

We also observed how advanced digital systems continuously monitor critical parameters such as temperature, humidity, and mixing processes in real time, maintaining high levels of precision and safety throughout production. 

Together with the Ecuadorian doctors, we gained a deeper understanding of why infant formula is considered a high-risk nutritional product and how industrial models based on prevention, continuous control, and operational excellence are essential to guaranteeing safety and trust from the very first days of life. 

Beyond nutritional innovation, the experience reaffirmed that true quality is built from the very beginning: through raw materials, manufacturing processes, and systems designed to minimize risks and protect patient safety. 

Much more than a scientific visit

In addition to the scientific and academic component, the trip also gave Ecuadorian doctors the opportunity to experience culture and discovering some of Switzerland's most iconic destinations. 

During the visit, the group explored remarkable places such as Mount Titlis and the impressive Rhine Falls, experiences that reflected the nature, precision, and excellence that define the country. 

Participants also visited the historic city of Lucerne and enjoyed the Lindt Home experience, connecting culture, innovation, and tradition in one of the countries globally recognized for its high standards of quality and innovation.
